It
is well said that the Everest region refers to the most stunning and
popular mountain areas among all. This short route trek is
especially designed for those who have got only a limited time to
discover the most famous beauties of Nepal offering breath-taking high
mountain scenery through the Khumbu - Sherpa country. The trek has got
two possible routes, either Renjo Pass trek or an alternative
itinerary.
The trail to Gokyo offers a gradual ascent up the valley passing
through patches of birch and rhododendron forest. There the elusive
musk deer can sometimes be seen. The trail passes the small yak-grazing
settlements to reach the Gokyo lakes. The Gokyo Peak (5380m) ascent can
be taken as the one of the highlights of the trek. There we have good
time to savor the incredible scenery. From there we can observe the
magnificent views of Everest (8848m), Makalu, Cho Oyo (8153m) and
Lhotse (8511m), to name but a few. The Renjo Pass route is off the
usual beaten track. At that place, we are rewarded with a fine view of
the Gokyo lakes on one side, the Rermo Pokhari lakes on the other side,
and a myriad of snowy peaks in the background offering an incredible
atmosphere. The alternative route begins from Gokyo and is much easier.
From there, the trail makes descends along the opposite bank of the
Dudh Kosi river.
