A trip to Nepal is incomplete if you
have not been on a jungle safari. While the mountains of the north have
some of the highest and most magnificent peaks in the world, the
tropical jungles of the Terai preserve some of the best wildlife
habitat in the subcontinent. Some of these rich wildlife habitats are
now protected, and can be tours on elephant
back, 4 WD vehicles, and dugout canoes or on foot accompanied by a
licensed guide.
Nepal has 16 national parks, wildlife reserves and conservation area,
occupying 16% of its total geographical area. Jungle safaris on
elephant back or Jeep rides are offered at the Parsa Wildlife Reserve,
Royal Bardia National Park, Royal Chitwan National Park and the Royal
Sukhlaphanta wildlife Reserve, all located in the terai.
Among them, there are two famous two National Parks Royal Chitwan
National Park, & Bardia National Park where you can explore the
wild-life getting yourself deep into the heart of the forest, while the
others serve as the natural habitat to thousands of animals including
Snow-Leopard, Gharries, Crocodiles, Ram, Bob Cats, endagered Red Panda,
Elks, Deers, Anteplores, Kasturi, monkeys, hundreds of birds (in fact
Arun Valley has the largest population of birds (650+) and butterflie
800 in the entire world.

Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is located in Saptari
and Sunsari districts in eastern Nepal. It was established to preserve
the habitat of the remaining population of wild buffalo and Arna in Nepal.
In recent time, it became a land of bird watchers because this reserve
is home of more than 300 different species of birds. Some of them
migrate from Siberia during the winter.

Day 1
|
Arrival and
reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.

Day 2
|
Sightseeing
of Kathmandu Durbar square, Swayambhunath and Patan. Night in hotel.

Day 3
|
Flight to Biratnagar. Reception and drive to camp, about one and a half
hour. On the way to camp, many interesting things can be obeserved. The
naturalist guide briefs on the facilities of the camp and its activities.

Day 4
|
The day starts with an early morning wake up call, which is the best time to see
birds. Bird watching on first light for the early walkers. The camp
premises and marshlands can be very rewarding to observe shy
species like Cracks and Bitterns. The highly nocturnal Fishing cat
which hunts in our camp ponds can sometimes be seen at dawn and dusk
and one has to be very silent to approach the ponds. Breakfast and full
day bird watching walk inside the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve with
pack lunch. The area between the Camp and Kusaha (Park Headquarter) is
the best area for birds and wildlife. The thin Indian Rosewood forest
provides excellent habitat for Warblers,. Flycatchers, Oriole, Bush
Warblers, Raptors and a large varietiy of Waders.
Return to the camp by late afternoon for a cup of tea/coffee or a
bottle of chilled beer! Dinner and last briefing for the next day's
program.

|
In the morning bird
watching around the camp premises before breakfast and departure for
Biratnagar airport. Flight to Kathmandu.
Night in hotel.
